SLOW FOOD FARMS

AN INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVE

Sue Dennis leads this project which began for Slow Food Hunter Valley in 2025.  Sue Dennis and Amorelle Dempster have completed the Slow Food Farm Accelerator Training and are now supporting our local producers – especially our Earth Market Maitland producers – to farm in tune with agroecological principles.

Agroecology is a holistic approach to farming that integrates ecological, social, and cultural principles to create sustainable, resilient, and equitable agricultural practices. Hmm… sounds a bit like good, clean and fair food for all!

As a Slow Food International intiative, Slow Food Farms is a global network and right here in the Hunter Valley we have Sue’s Nebo Farm at Morpeth, Marcus’ backyard food garden in Bolwarra Heights and Carinya Downs at Lochinvar who have joined this network.

As part of the network they can build relationships and contribute to the growth of sustainable practices to feed our world and look after Mother Earth.

We are excited to see how many other local producers will come on board this year.
