Welcome to the Earth Market Maitland, a vital initiative by Slow Food Hunter Valley where communities of producers, food artisans, and conscious consumers converge to access, celebrate and promote fresh, local and seasonal food. The Earth Market Maitland is more than a marketplace. It’s also a vibrant hub for learning, sharing, and advocating for a food system that is good, clean, and fair for all.
The Earth Market Maitland commenced in August 2017 and operates on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. It is located in The Levee, Central Maitland. Slow Food Member volunteers are on hand to set up the Market in readiness for the stallholders and customers to commence trading at 8am. All stallholders have a narrative sign to indicate their kilometres from the Earth Market, their story and their commitment to providing “good, clean and fair food” at each stall.
Our volunteers bump the stallholders in and out at each Earth Market, help out on the stalls, do the behind the scenes work with Maitland City Council and promote the Earth Market through all the socials.
